2016 Harvest!

We have been watching the skies. Whoever has any doubt ever on Global warming should talk to a farmer. The weather cycles which directly impact on the agricultural sector have been dramatically changed in the recent years. Science and Technology has helped, in irrigation (in longer, dryer summer months), protecting with pesticides (higher humidity caused by warm days and cold nights) , so being organic- we do not take such preventions and protections, and take whatever nature provides us. NO harvest in 2013 simply because we refuse to treat any of our olive trees when everyone else was forced to. Organic Farming becomes an ever increasing challenge!

Summer was long and dry this year, which meant very good and intense oil. Olives are small, and being so, is more immune to the olive pest. However there will be so little oil in the olive it would not be possible even to press them.  Rains are expected in the last few weeks of October, it has been coming on odd days. Harvest is projected in the next few weeks. Watch up for updates! Excitement building up!
